The versions of V-Ray 1.5 for 3ds Max 9 (both 32- and 64-bit) will work fine with 3ds Max 2008.

V-Ray RC3 will also work, but the new Scene Explorer in 3ds Max 2008 will crash if you have V-Ray lights in the scene. With V-Ray 1.5, this is ok.

As far as 3ds Max 2008 is concerned, the service pack deals with the correct intensity of V-Ray lights in the viewports. The other fixes are not specific to 3ds Max 2008.

Does the shadows feature in shaded viewport mode of max2008 work with Vray 1.5 and Vray materials, just like they have shown in their demo movie?

or is that a feature that is not available at the moment?

Yep, shadows mostly work. Like I said, the service pack addresses some issues with the brightness of the lights, but other than that all is fine.

@lukx: Is backburner working in 2008? With render strips? And vray DR in backburner? I didn't think these were working in max 9...
