I am still not getting this gamma stuff.

I have an animation that looks great on my screen and prints out wonderfully. I have viewed it on other screens and it looks just as good. I sent it to a render farm and it is coming out way over exposed. The render farm is using my max file and textures so what is causing the over exposure? The render farm might have settings they know to tweak, but I thought I would post this question just in case they don't

    my first frame:

Your second image link wasnt working, think this might:

I'd wager its a max setting on their part that doesnt get saved with a scene. Might be a different setup in customise -> preferenses -> gamma and LUT. Get them to take a screetshot of that dialog box after opening your scene and compare it to what youve got, it's the only thing I can think of that might not be saved with the scene.

You are correct. They figured it out quickly. I sold my first born (not) and got Adobe Premiere, but I have no clue on how to put together my 870 frames. Is this an easy process, or do I have to learn something new?

        Hi Bobby

You dont need anything besides max for that. In max on your menubar just go to "Rendering" then to "Ram Player". From here you can load your 1st frame and it will ask to load all frames or only the 1st. Just tell it all and it will load all frames into memory (takes a few seconds - your 870 frames shouldnt take longer than about 10 or 15 seconds). When this is done just save as and save the file to a movie format. Dont forget to post your results as your stuff is usually very good in my opinion

        Kind Regards,

          Ram Player

My RAM Player makes a mess of my movie. It come out almost like a negative. I upgraded my Apple Quick Time last night and the import sequence stopped working, which is a known issue, so I downgraded and now when I export to a codec it crashes. I really need to get this into a wmv, which is the only thing Power Point seems to read. Here is the MOV after the downgrade and exported for the web. I am happy with it. Render Nation did a quick job of the 870 frames.

                RAM Player

I downloaded a trial of MAX 2008 and the RAM player works in that. I'll reinstall my MAX and see if the RAM Player fixes itself.

If youre converting video, I spent hours searching for a good converter and discovered this - http://www.avsmedia.com/VideoTools/index.aspx

Feed it an uncompressed AVI (the file size will be ridiculous, but you can delete it after) and send it through there, it's the easiest and best quality video converter ive used.

If youre not doing any editing you can export avi's from the RAM player too.

                        Hi Bobby

Instead of RAM Player you can try this free program:
                        http://www.virtualdub.org/
There is also a 64 bit version from the download page even if the front page says just 32 bit.
Great little program (VERY POWERFULL for a free little program)
It can convert file into different codec (providing you have the coded installed)

Sometime I even use this little quick tool instead of my NLE
(for my NLE I use Liquid Edition Pro - nowdays called Avid Liquid - intead of using adobe premiere)
