  • HowTo improve Animation Rendering

    Hi there!

I'm currently working on an animation where animated objects will be included in the final process.
Yesterday, I rendered aprox. 120 frames of my animation, but got some splotches and render errors back.

    Here's the file for reference...

The questions, considering improvements for rendering speed and quality, are the following.

    - The animation should be in HD (1280x720 @ 30fps)
    - Does it make sense to render the Irradiance Map @ half resolution?
    - Do I need to turn off AA and reflections / refractions while using the Animation Prepass mode?
    - What kind of settings might fit my scene?

Since I need to render the animated camera as well as animated objects, I could render the scene frame by frame, with "Add to current map" option or with "Animation Prepass" mode.

Suggestions and ideas are greatly appreciated

    Thanks in advance,
    toby

I assume you haven't shown the moving objects?
Why not render it in stages - everything that is static (like the reference vid shown) just render from cached IR/LC maps, every thing that will be moving you'll render separately, using BF/LC and then composite them together?

The splotches and flicker only happen on that one conical object, so first off i'd check that geometry to see you haven't got any co-planar faces...

Why should I render with IRR / LC if I render an exterior animation?

My settings are attached to this post.

        why wouldn't you?
what were your render times with this setup?

          If textured, about 16min/frame.
