  • Using gray scale insted of RGB, memory saver ?

    Hello guys,

Is there a big "memory advantage" changing all maps (bump, mask etc... all black and white ) from RGB to grayscale ?

    Only 1 channel to sample instead of 3 ? I'm wrong ?

3 times less memory usage (by map) ?

    Best regards...

PS : Maybe it's an off topic thread...

Greyscale bitmaps do save memory in 3ds Max.

It should be 1/3 (only one channel instead of three, assuming there is no alpha).
