  • Accidentally closed frame buffer during render

While rendering I accidentally closed my frame buffer. This render has been running for 12 hours and has at least another 50 to go. The rendering hasn't stopped or anything, the messages and status window are all still up.

Is there any way to re-open the VFB without canceling and restarting the render?

Thanks so much for any help

50 hours? What are you rendering. Seems a very long time for a single image. Have you spe ified to save the final render on end? Otherwise you will have to wait till it's finished and click show last vfb.

The image is 6000 x 3500. Its for a full spread in a brochure.

I was using the track mouse tool to render only specific areas I needed, and planned on canceling when those finished. Because of a tight deadline waiting the full render time would be a problem.

I take it you're not rendering to a vrimg file?

I am saving a vrimg, but I don't want to wait the full time for that to finish.

You can still cancel the render from the render progress window and then use the "Show last VFB" button.

                Best regards,

That's what I did. Now I'm region rendering the areas that hadn't finished.

                  Thanks Vlado

Ah. You don't have to wait for a vrimg file to finish; it saves the raw image data as it renders.

All of the workarounds here are still a hassle, especially on a large job. Maybe in a future version could there be an option to open the VFB during a render, or a checkbox to lock it open?
