Is it possible to carry out the irr pre-pass for animations with no moving objects with the reflections turned off and still end up with the same results. I was just thinking that it would speed up the process...

Irr pre-pass with no reflections ?

Not sure if I made it clear enough. Normally I do an irr pass with reflections/shadows on etc. Just wondering if you can turn off the reflections during an irr pass to reduce the irr pass times ? Will this irr result still lead to the same final render that you would get from keeping reflections on for all objects ?

Hi Steve,
As far as I understand it the situation depends on whether you will see a given surface, in your final render, in a reflection or refraction that isn't seen by the camera directly. If you have calculated your irr maps with global reflect/refract off then such a surface will not have receive any gi samples.
Hope that make sense?
Cheers,
Olly
