  • Memory Usage in Vray oddities

Export an Onyx Tree as an .obj with around 650,000pg's. Import that into Max and hit render. The memory usage in Vray is around 1200Mb - 1400Mb. Delete the tree. Go back to Onyx, save the same tree with less poly's @ 450,000pg's, import back into Max and now the memory usage when rendering is 2600Mb? It seems each time I delete a tree and import a new one, the memory usage keeps banking up until I restart max, then it goes back to normal.

    Any ideas?

    Hi Daniel,
Its been a problem in max for a very long time.
Its the same problem as the issue with attaching a large ammount of object to an editable poly, the memory keeps adding up and doesnt flush itself.
Sadly this isnt a VRay problem its just a max issue

As Chris said, it's a max problem for both editable meshes and editable polies. You can ocasionally flush memory by typing GC() in your maxscript window.
        hope this helps
