Moreover, I noticed that the same scene renders with different tones with BF+LC.
I know this is not about max 2011.
    Any idea why?

About the irradiance map + brute force being darker than brute force + light cache, this is normal. The light cache gives you a lot more accurate estimate of the bounced light, while brute force for secondary bounces is limited in the number of bounces - see this page for some more examples: http://www.spot3d.com/vray/help/150S...les_GI.htm#ex3

About the time difference, I assume this is the same V-Ray version (SP5), right?

      Thanks Vlado for the information

Yes it is the latest vray. SP5 in 2011.

But it is SP4 in 2009.

I will install SP5 in max2009 and will post results here.

Looking forward to your results. For the moment, I'm staying the ____ away from Max2011

have there been any updates on longer rendering times with 3dsmax2011 (vray 1.5sp5) compared to 2009 ?
Vlado, have there been some kind of internal rendering quality updates in relation to same rendering parameters/settings which could result in longer rendering times in SP5 ?

I've noticed the longer rendertimes in vray 1.5sp5 for 3dmax 2011 aswell?
I don't know what is happening but it seems like every new version of 3dmax and vray are getting more and more slower.
I have a scene that renders in 13:22 in max 2010 x64 with vray 1.5 sp4 and the same exact scene renders in 16:14 in max 2011 with vray 1.5 sp5. How is this possible?
I think that it should be expected a reduce in render times with every new version but all we get are longer and longer rendertimes.

I've also noticed the slow down as well as more memory being used for the same scene.
