i have a cloth awning that stretches over a pool,
in scanline, all we used to do is put a thin wall refraction on, with a bit of blur, to simulate the hazy blurry seethroughness that cloth has.
how do i get a similar result in vray, since thinwall doesnt work with it.
ive played a bit with glossy and translucency, but im getting incredibly slow render times for something i used to be able to render in seconds.

any ideas on a faster method?

Do a search on the forum for curtains. There was a thread a while ago where someone did an interior with curtains that did what you want. The light came through it partially. I think he used a bitmap in the refraction slot for it, I'm not sure anymore.
