just for the fun of it. using smoke and noise for displacement set to use the lofts mapping and vray dirt for the texture. (everything else uses the loft line for orientation)

Hi Bobby, Happy New Year! Did you get to the bottom of this? I've been having a play with this today and Da Elf seems to be using 3D displacement using procedural maps wheras you've maybe been using a JPEG file or similar to map to your loft? Maybe try creating your brick texture using Bercon Tiles and apply using the 3D displacement? I'm going to try this now as I've managed to recreate what Da Elf has been doing but not tried a map yet. Hmmm, seems to work fine with just the map too. I didn't need to use the bercon tiles. What map are you using for your displacement?

Okay. it seems that the issue is real world mapping. So simply using real word to get the dimensions correct and then un-checking real world to get the non-real world mapping equivalent is the key for me.

Glad you got it sorted. It doesn't seem to make any difference to me whether real world is checked or not but I guess it may be unitn dependant.

it is just good to break things down to its simplest denominator to figure things out.

I compare, and use as an example often, those sound boards you use for music. At church I am the sound guy, but my board is simple and only has a hand full of knobs and sliders. Only having a hand full of knobs and sliders makes life easy, but I am very limited in what I can do. The frustration I have is seeing people buy great big sound boards (V-Ray) when all they use it for can be accomplish with a little inexpensive sound board (Revit). We purchased a dozen seats of Photoshop last year, against my advice, so people can crop images. Okay, enough ranting
