  • Blur VrayEdgesTex Map?

Is there any way to blur the output of a VrayEdgesTex Map? Something similar to the blur parameter of a standard map.

What I'm trying to do is use the Edges map to give a bump to internal edges of a surface (not just the corners which it does already). It seems that since the transition from black to white of the edges map is so sharp there's no visible bump.

You can sort of do it using the VRayColor2Bump texture that I posted here: http://www.chaosgroup.com/forums/vbu...218#post447218

Also, if you only have quads, you could use the "Face map" feature of the Standard material to map a square to each face and use that for bump mapping.

        You can also try GradientEdge.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. The vray color2 bump texture didn't really give me convincing results, at least in my setup which was trying to combine with a bitmap bump as well. What ended up working the best for me was ditching the vrayedges tex and using itoosoft's free colorEdge texture instead and pumping that into a composite map and then that into the VrayColor2Bump map. Voila!

Not all of the faces are the same size or aspect ratio so the joints would end up being different sizes. That example above is just a test cube with some additional segments.
