  • HDRI and Bump Maps

    Hi,

Anyone know the best way to keep HDRI lighting from decimating bump
maps? When my image is rendered without GI turned on the bump map is
fine (arguably so in the presense of discrete lightsources) but when using
HDRI map and GI the bump maps are lost..

I've been able to counter this some by jacking up the reflection samples on
the VRay Mtl, but I'm at 65 (w/o interpolation) and I'm really starting to
see a performance hit. Anyone have tips here?

    Thanks!

If you dont want use direct lights, (carefull using it might help a lot) u could use some self illuminated plane, which will dirve better the lighting in the scene.

I think also that your hdri doesnt not have enough high range.
Maybe a little edit in hdrshop etc.

finally try to increase the bump map level. Maybe you could find a good balance.
