I want to use sub surface scattering for tree leaves so that the leaves on the edges of the tree, when backlit, will light up. I'm new to this and have been playing with it for only a couple of days but it doesn't seem to work on polys with only one face.
Now i understand that subsurface materials should require depth to work but i don't really want to have to apply shell modifiers to trees with hundreds of thousands of leaves.......
Is there a way to cheat the material into working on a flat poly or should i be looking at a completely different approach to this?
