    re

Flip the normals so that they face the light if not a volume curtain.

Surface normals makes surfaces visible to light,
so if light rays and surface normals dont meet, no surface color can be computed...

Bad english, but i think im not far from the truth

              hey Yadla and others...

Thats it! The Normals! i get far better results with normals flipped to the light... gosh!...

But can you post your scene? its way better to analyze them fully to learn!
              Thanks!

Anyway, u always have better result if u use solid modeling...

HERE u get my scene (2mb file)

I put simcloth with the scene, so u can read it properly.

                  re

lukx: If you want to get rid of all the orange in you scene, another way to do it is select the curtains and under system in the vray render dialogue, click "objects" and take the generate GI down from 1 to about .5 or so.

                        I feel ignored
I post in the previous page that flipping normals translucency works. Anyway, i didn't reach your results since my thickness value was very low. Thanks yadla for the settings

well I was using fr for quite long time since stage 0 to stage 1 and what can I say...fr just disappointed me, and especialy it's forum, where you can say a word about other renderer and this whole long story about stage 1. And now what we've got? We were waiting so long for Stage 1 and it isn't so good as it supposed to be. Vray is faster more stable, also image quality is better in my opinion. I was trying to create this curtain scen ewith FR well I have to say I got still problems to create it properly in FR. Also rendering times are killing me.

eh? what kind of logic is that?

vRay is easier to use *without* taking a hit (and usually improving) in image quality and speed.

Translucency uses SSS algorithms, and these work inside a volume. Add a solidify modifier to get better results from all angles.

solidify modifer? foe example like cap holes? couse I couldn't find other that would work on plane.
