hi,
quick description:
presets are stored into easily editable & exchangeable INI files and can be global or partial.
that means, you can have a preset that only affects SOME settings, like QMC values. (partial)
the link button activates a rendertime-callback that clones the production render settings to draft and then loads the draft preset.
so when you tweak production settings and then render with draft, the production settings will be adapted, but also degraded based on the
rules in the draft preset.
expressions are also allowed, something like:
draftAA=1/4 * productionAA
i hope this is not gettings too confusing now...
i'll try to get this thing out in a few days. still fighting with the activex listview, file parsing, arrays and my daytime job.
I've been working on a script to save out the interpolation values for all the materials in a scene so they could be set to an overide setting for quick renders and then restored for final. I really haven't gotten anywhere with it mainly because of the external file stuff and because scripting is not my first love :P
Seems like it is close to what your script is going to do, maybe it would be a nice addition
Eric,
i'm not happy with the current way of local interpolation settings. IMO there should be at least a global override in the render panel.
i have the feeling that the current local/global system is not going to stay.
apparently vray 1.1 will also come with a new material system (templates...).
manipulating scenematerials at rendertime would be possible but it's dirty. i'd rather avoid it.
btw. if anyone would like to beta-test the script, reply here or send me a PM through this forum.
please only apply if you are experienced with max and vray and you are going to give me feedback (!).
it's the concept to have a hisized ldr image in the bg slot and a smaller hdr in the enviroment override... i told you some month ago about that concept..remember?
