How can I make a simple chrome or satin chrome

Try this for grins

diffuse: black
reflect: falloff=> top swatch:white bottom swatch: 168,168,168
leave everything else default.
no glossy reflections.

Holy moly! I tried it and it looks awesome! So, what would I do with that to make it look softer, say with a satin or brushed finish?

(i don't think i have the quote thing figured out)
