  • Scanline Double Sided Translucency Effect on a Curtain

    Hi everyone,

There was a fine trick to get the shadows on one side of a curtain onto the other one, by using a double sided material and setting the translucency something above zero - with scanline.

Now does anyone know how to achieve this effect with vray? (Maybe not having to wait hours with real translucency....)

    Thanks in advance

Double Sided Materials have a parameter called translucency that determines how much of the 'back'-side of the material gets onto the 'front' one.

You are absolutely right: Standard materials don't have something like that.

Seems like nobody has an answer to this one.

Did I actually define my problem correctly?

                hi there,

since max 5 translucency is a standard shader in max
you can access it in a standard material where you
                can choose blinn, phong etc.
There should be a point "Translucent Shader"
wich will give you the additional options "translucent color"
                and "filter color"
and it works great with Vray

                cheers
