  • Anisotropy question

I've searched the forum for a 1-2-3 on setting up anisotropy, but there doesn't seem to be a direct thread on this. So, if anyone can correct me in that regard, please do. Otherwise, here's my question: in the image below, the geometry on the left was textured and rendered in Cinema 4D XL, and the one on the right was rendered with Max and VRay. How do I get the anisotropic effect in VRay to be as sharp and pronounced as the image on the left? (Basically, I want to remove the graininess and get clearer definition of the grooves in the surface)

    Many thanks!

First change the anisotropy axis. The VRay one seems to be perpendicular to what is in the Cinema4D image. Second, play with the glossiness and anisotropy values. Try changing the BRDF - Blinn and Ward work better for anisotropy. Also, the VRay image has a HDRI environment, which is in part resposible to the amount of noise.

    Best regards,
    Vlado
