  • Multisubtex and random ID loading

    Hello,

I work a viz firm that has been a mental ray house for over a decade and we are switching to vray for everthing. (Finally!) That's the great news.

The bad news is there is a tremendous amount of interest in converting over a multimap from MR to Vray. The problem as I find it is that the vray version of multisubtex doesn't have "random" as a load operator. At least in 2.20.

Is there a trick to this? Am I SOL? Personally I think it's a neat thing to randomly load textures onto an object, but in my opinion doesn't add much value in the case of how we are using it.

I wanted to see if there was a way to pull this off however, before I report back that it's a no go. Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks,
    AJ

    Hi,
You can try to use V-Ray "MultiSubTex" together with "MaterialByElement" modifier.
    I hope this helps you.
