    displacement = long rendertime?

    I used a box with a checker material displacement and had very long rendertimes. Is there sth. wrong?

    Thanks.

    Depends on what you do...

    If you put a checker on it with small size, and you also have gi enabled and relfections and glossy material etc... then of course this will render 1000 times slower than the same box without displacement.

      a simple box with 10,10,10 Segs and a checker (standard-settings) and Vraydisplacement mit 2dmapping (standard-settings), Renderpic 640x480 takes more than 5min(!?!?!)

          Exeriment with the settings, and as I said, if you're using GI and stuff it's normal that it takes longer on a complex displaced surface than on a flat surface.

            besides. why use 10,10,10 for subdivisions on the box. thats more polygons. just use a normal box
