I am keen to know more details about the presentation and how Vray is used in Pacific Rim....Also curious about the reason they picked Max over Maya when it comes to integrating Vray into their pipeline?
          always curious...

Max = less bugs, more stable, less to code, more of a all in one package + vray is more supported on Max.

I heard that some of their top artists like to use max hence vray. Which kind of suprises me, since ILM is all Linux and custom software all around When it comes to stability in max/maya I think they are equal in that both break and both are written by people and people make mistakes

This is brilliant. Especially when you consider that ILM struck a deal resulting in them having unlimited free Renderman licenses forever.

Chaos can create a deal like unlimited VRay licenses ahah.
I hope ChaosGroup will give us more information on where VRay was used.

Unfortunately most of the time we don't have any information; even when we do, in most cases it is covered by NDAs.

                    Best regards,
