  • Batch Render + Render Elements

Hey guys, just wondering what the correct way is to set up batch render for multiple cameras and their render elements.

I always seem to get this setup wrong in one way or another - I either end up with no render elements, or just one set for a single camera/render, or the last camera's elements will overwrite the previous, etc.

    Help is much appreciated.

We use RPManager for storing all our passes' data and submitting. It's a vital part of my pipeline, but is somewhat complicated.

And without another 3rd party piece of software, is it not possible?

          This one's free: http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/sc...l-pass-manager

But I tried the RPmanager demo the other day and I'm buying it. I think after one complex project you'll forget about the cost.

You just need to spend an hour watching the tutorials on the website.

So the general concensus isn't a way to do render elements through batch render without getting some sort of add-on/plugin/3rd party software. Brilliant.

You can use state sets - but I found them clunky.

You can disable the VFB and use the 3ds max native frame buffer in this case and all render element will be saved together with the beauty.
Also you can use the EXR format as output file.

Edit: another workaround is to use Backburner instead

Will it ever be possible to do it with the VFB enabled?

What you can do is to setup each camera to renders different frames sequences. So for example camera01 will be set to 0 to 100 frames, then camera02 set to 101 to 200. Then the elements will work.

If you set all you cameras to render 0 to 100 the elements will be over written.
