  • Raytracing the Bounce of Light on a Mirror in Vray?

I´m trying to simulate a Discomirrorball and i would like
to raytrace the effect of differernt Rays of Light getting
mirrored. I tried a volume-Spotlight and set up a mirror-
standart material with raytrace in the reflection slot and
also a raytraced material. The Problem is, that the light
stops by hitting the "mirror". Well, it´s possible to fake
this effect, but i would like to get more relalism thru real
raytrace. Maybe vray has a solution for this kind of cool
    Fx?

    Thanks in advice,
    Daniel

    Hi DanielBoo

i guess you hav'nt read the vray manual yet, have you?
there you'll find some information about 'caustics'.
otherwise search the web for that effect.

    regards
    ale

      Hello Ale,

thanks for your reply. I have read the manual, but it´s not
the caustic, i want to simulate, i would like to "break" the
volume light by hitting the different mirrors that way, that
these volumetric Rays stay visible. Sounds like a simple task,
but seems to be impossible with Max.

      Best wishes,
      Oliver

I think you want volume caustics, there are a few programs that do that i think
Scatter vl does it i think, somoene else should know.
