  • Compositing workflow

    Hi,

I would like to render my trees and grass as separate pass and composite them later in PS. I could go in one pass but I need to use detail enhancement for the building and it slowes down the foliage and grass. Should I use vray properties matte or what for the foliage and grass when rendering the building pass? And what should I do for the building when rendering the foliage and grass so it would composite nicely in PS. Thx in advance.

Did you try rendering those objects "not visible to camera"?

Visible to camera will be useful only if the trees and grass objects are completely behind/in-front of the building - if there are trees which cover the building and at the same time the building covers the trees it won't work because later at compositing stage you have to put the building either in front of the foliage-pass or behind it.
In that case it is better to use Matte-objects instead of Visible to Camera - because they will generate the right masks no matter where the foliage / buildings are.
