I think you can ignore that... the plugin is probably not needed for the scene to work as it's related to render elements.

As Vlado mentioned vrayoptionre2013.dlv is not an issue - it is true that the Bump Map in this example doesn't work in 2.4 version but the issue is related to Color2Bump node.
Here is one example with NormalBump - it works also with VrayNormalMap:

so, bringing back this thread. its *not* possible to use vraydirt in the bump slot in vray 2.4? even with colortobump? the last example for 2.4 obviously isnt correct. im trying to do bumpy scratched edges as per another thread here, and whatever i try i cannot get it to produce a reasonable result. ive tried using the vraydirt in colortobump, ive tried using it in a mix map, a composite map etc etc.

nothing. is there a fix for this or do i have to get vray 3 to use this feature..?

I don't know to be honest; I have not yet had time to debug why it doesn't render in 2.4. I hope to squeeze it in schedule in the following days.

              Best regards,

actualy I can't even control bump map with output or color corection map as mentioned above. tried also with color2bump, to no avail. is there a way to do that? vray 2.4 max2012.

That is most likely because of max's retarded mono channel derived from rgb images used for bump, and when CC'ing or using output-curves, you are only changing the rgb channels. Using color2bump as the last node piped into the bump slot should yield the result you seek, but my experience is that this node sometimes makes the bump look different than expected, and requires fiddling with the parameters to get a good result.

                  Christian

I wanted to try this method of using the VrayDirt as a bump. I started seeing unwanted edges though. See image. I just added a cylinder to the Dirt to Bump sample file and applied the same material on the left-hand plane.

                    How can this be prevented?

I'm getting the same result like the one you have posted. The triangle geo edges are not expected to be visible, but it has to be confirmed by our developers as well. So I will update the thread as soon as any information is available.

This should be in the examples page in the help, very cool.

even more cool when you tick inverted normals in the bump map

We're getting the same error for a while. Baking the vraydirt helps, but that's not ideal solution. What's the status on this bug ? Or maybe that's not a bug ?

Unfortunately we don't have a fix for this issue yet. I will try to rise up its priority in our system, if it's urgent ?

It would save us a lot of time during shading process, so it is a bit urgent.
