IR/LC for interiors, IR/LC for exteriors.

I'll test BF and consider moving when we get 3.0 installed, but there's a vast speed difference between them as it is and i'm not entirely sure the improvements will close the gap.

I tried BF/BF last night, and I woke up to 27 more hours to go! I stayed steadfast, and did some trouble shooting and removed my Multiscatter trees, and voila! without Multiscatter, and just as many trees hand scattered, it rendered in 45 minutes. How can a plugin make things go so horribly wrong?

also, I turned blur off of all my materials, and for the trees and bushes I turned the max depth to 1, but I did this early on.

With BF+BF+Multiscatter 27 hours? Mmm... look at the CPU usage, please. Is it 100%?

I never get above 10% cpu usage using multiscatter no matter where the buckets are. When it's first created it works fine but after a while of doing other things (not touching scatter) it'll drop to single core use for the entire scene. it's a broken piece of shit and any old scene with it in i replace with forest pro now.

it always jumps to 100% CPU - always has.

What's the rendering speed (BF+BF) in clay? You have to find the problem and debug your scene.

This is very interesting, and it would be a good idea to send the scene for investigation cause it looks like a bug.
Not sure on which side is though - Vray or Multiscatter.

I dumped Multiscatter and now I am getting 2-4 hour render times, which I am happy with,

I use MS extensively on exterior scenes
What did you use instead? Manual distribution?

Also, have you tried to render GI without the secondary bounces? On exterior scenes of course.

Yes. I used the Glue script. I haven't tried one bounce, but I will. I did try BF+BF, and it worked well. I did miss the LC preview you get.
