  • Black Render when I activate DR

    hi!

When I render an interior scene with only one workstation all works correctly, when I check Distribute Render it appears all black (both light cache and irradiance map preview also).

Which could be the problem? I really don't understand why...
    Some info:
    -win7 64bit + 3ds max2013 64bit + vray 3.00.02
-All Cameras work in Single Machine mode
-For some cameras in the scene there is no problem, for other the problem sussist
-The scene yesterday works correctly... today I've simply added some geometries and made some material modifications
-I try to mantein the scene as clean, flexible and organaized as possible
-For some Cameras with problem the Light Cache and Irradiance Map preview appears grey
-No warning in the Log Message window, just a green line advising me that Light Cache is used for glossy rays
-Tried to merge the scene in a new one, no solved
-Tried to switch off and restart all machines and server, no solved
-Use of SolidRock plugin for render launching
-Tried DR with one node at time, no solved
-There are xref in the scene
-Except for Vray and SolidRock no other plugins used
*-When I disable one Xref it works
*-When I open the xrefed scene in a new scene and render it, all nodes render it correctly
*-If I merge the xref scene it works

Any kind of suggest will be well accepted.
    Thank you very much.

Do you have any lights in the scene? DR does not support the default light.

In the scene there are only VrayPlanar Lightss and a VrayDome Light, if with "default light" you mean 3dsmax lights, there aren't.

First, make sure that 3DSMax default lights are turned off:

...then render the scene with and without Distributed Rendering.
If the result is still different:

*make sure that the slave-machine has access to all external assets used in the scene - textures, ies-lights,proxies and etc
*make sure that all machines participating in DR have exactly the same Vray build installed
*make sure that all the cameras (including the ones in xref-scenes) have different names
*check whether the issue is caused by every xrefs or just some/one of them cause it.

If you still have troubles please pack the scene and send it to us for investigation.

Distributive Render is not compatible with Xref. All Xref's must be merged into scene and file re-saved for DR to work.

Not necessarily; you can simply put the X-Ref files on a shared network resource (similar to textures), or in V-Ray 3.0 you can use the new option to transfer missing assets, which will handle X-Ref files too.

            Best regards,

Im finding that vray 3 DR isn't as good as version 2. Getting lots of warning machine is not responding.

              render host added
              scene transferred
              server scene loaded starting render
              warning:render hose not responding.

all firewalls are off on the machines as well.

Not true at all, although for total peace of mind it would be best to merge them in first, as you say. But I routinely render DR renders with xrefs all the time, in 2.4 anyway. About to upgrade to 3.0.
