      Hi Pengo,

I know them onsite, not online, but they've been in bussiness for a while, and IMO they are a serious PC Shop:

      http://www.pcgreen.com

      they are in Barcelona, spain.

      cheers

1800euro seems to be very highpriced for your configuration. BTW.

there is 2 similar HD in this config because the P4C800-E motherboard support RAID (raid0, 1 and 0+1) .

          to N6 and others

do u think it is too expensive?

The friend who did the configuration told me that the ram is the fastest on the market at the moment and the cpu is one of the last

do u think could be better a slower cpu and more ram like 2 GB for my pc usage? (architectural renderings)

is it true that vray and max consider p4 HT like a dual processors?
with this kind of cpu I eard that vray calculates two bakes like in dual processors system. Is it true?
If yes on wich operating system? XP or 2000 too?

I hope that this long thread doesn't offend anyone I mean should I be on off topic?

          bye to all

To take full advantage of the HT you should go with XP pro. The ram is not the fastest but thoes are good chips and will work well for your config. On a personal note for the HD's I would go with the Western Digital drives as I personaly have found them to be verry reliable and running nothing but in my current systems SATA and IDE. Also if you dont mind a little more noise the WD Raptor 10,000rpm SATA drives rock for your OS drive

                  no problem

but as Sushidelic said, youd better buy a FX5800 or 5900 because thoose can be softmodded to Quadro card while the 5700 can't.

                    One last thought,

With the savings n6 brought up, you may consider:

Change the ASUS P4C800 single processor mobo for an ASUS PC-DL dual xoen mobo, adding about 60,00 ~ 80,00 €

Change the One P4 3,2/800 by ONE Xeon 2,8/533 adding about 100,00 €

Memory will be a bit cheaper for the PC-DL

The idea is you have a single 2,8 Ghz today, adding another processor later upgrading to a DUAL in a few months with minimal effort.

Or simply add the second Xeon now for some 340,00 ~ 400,00 €

Should fit in the 1.800,00 € budget.

                    Cheers

                      hi pengo,
i think you should get all your items for under 1500euros if you buy it from one dealer.

About the dual xeon solution, which is a good alternative : there are socket604 and socket603 dual xeon mobo.
I think ONLY socket603 will work with only one cpu and as far as i remember the asus is a socket604 ..or was it turnaround?
On most pro boards you will need a very expensive psu, but i think the asus is happy with a normal atx psu.

The PSU's for the xeons are not much more than the reg ATX PSU's. I recently bought 2 PSU's 1 for an ATX and 1 for a xeon:

Antec True Power 550W for single AMD - $159.95cdn
Antec True Power 550W for Dual Xeon - $169.95cdn

The main difference between the two is an extra 4 wire power lead for the Xeon CPU's.

                        Cheers,

                                GREAT

                                WONDERFUL

About the card I think that its importance is realtive to the work u do

If u generally have a scene with complex models with high number of faces u need powerful graphic card if your scene is something about one object u don't need so powerful one

That's whatn I think about it
