Oh, I was referring to the method of setting the global subdivs to 0 and relying on the min shading rate to do the work which is a vray 3 thing. I might start a new thread to avoid this getting confusing.

I simply used Vlado's universal method, like Peter pointed out. Basically, BF+LC with default settings.Bobby Parker

min shading rate 16, global subdivs multiplier 0 to remove any subdivs anywhere else, and AA color threshold 0.007. I used the min shading rate and the aa color threshold to tune into things. So, with these two spinners, I got really fast and clean renders.Bobby Parker

Is the minimum shading rate you refer to the same as the "min samples" under DMC Sampler?

Yes. it's under the Settings Tab. I set the Global subdivs to 0, which overrides all the material subdivs. I start off with the Min samples at 8, and if I am getting noise, I'll double that. The Adaptive image sampler is 1/100 (can be a lot less, but 100 is safe) and color threshold is .007.Originally posted by timmatron View PostIs the minimum shading rate you refer to the same as the "min samples" under DMC Sampler?Bobby Parker
