transparent shadows ?

Im using Vray 1.09n.Is there a way of producing transparent shadows ie for simulating a glazed canopy where a faint shadow is produced when using a direct light.I seem only to be able to have showdows either full on or off.

have you tried ticking the affect shadows in the material rollout ?
