Quick question, nothing too taxing I hope...

Now that the lens effects are available through the Vfb, do we still have to have it enabled in the environment/effects rollout for it to generate the relevant lens effect pass?

I'm not running 3.0 yet, but you can run a quick test on a small scene. I would imagine you do need it enabled; it takes resources to call and it would an unneeded burden if you didn't need it.

There was a thread on this a little while ago. I think the advice for Vray 3 was to enable Lens Effects in the VFB only and not in Effects rollout at the same time.

You have to enable it in the VFB before you render otherwise it won't calculate it. You don't need to enable it in the effects.

How do I save the lens effects baked into the image ? or can I only do it using the vrayVFB on method ?

You need to enable it in environment/effects rollout. Otherwise Object ID and Material ID doesn't work when only enabled in VFB.
