  • Vray Distance Text problems

    Hi everybody,
I´d like to use vraydistancetex to easily mask out streets on a terraín. The Idea was just to draw a center spline along the roads axis, then using extrude/shell (or sweep or shape thickness....) to create different street widths.
But it doesn´t work where streets cross or intersect - doubling the splines seems to destroy the distance-information. As I don´t want to model all street outlines it would be wonderful if anybody as an solution.

V-Ray distance text node doesn't work well with intersecting geometry.

One approach could be to bake a texture map (in this case Lighting) for the ground plane and then reuse it as part of a V-Ray blend material for an example.
Here is one quick render example:

Hey Tashko, thanks a lot for the idea, but I still prefer avoiding pixels as we are hovering over quite some landscape area. Right now we are testing masking with vectormaps, maybe that works. VrayDistanceTex also is quite slow on large terrains, so maybe we find a better solution.
