    Hi Jon

In this case (blur 1.1, ringing 0.2) Mitchell Netravali isused as a blurring filter rather than sharpening. Right now, this is the only combination i use for heavy 2k animation rendering, every other combination failed (f.ex. simple twolevel 6/8, area 1.. But as I said in my first post, it may be difficult if there are some blur values set too low or for any other reasons i didn't encounter here - courious to hear about your results...

    greetings, michael

texture subsampling or how is it called is what u need. In other words blur the texture a bit, what u using. This is different than using AA. I dont think it would make visible difference overall but the flickering should go away.

for the water(noise)bumps, blur that too, use 5-10 blur value which will make not much difference.
