Unfortunately as I tried it about a month ago it wasn't supported; something about technical reasons how they split the render to their machines. Basically each machine is rendering a seperate (crop) image and they're stitched together after rendering, so a render mask would not work.

Did you do a masked render at rebus? Like I said, my info is a month or maybe even two old - so they might have changed something.
I spoke with the rebus guys and they said that for the technical reasons it wouldn't work.
EDIT:
I think you misunderstood - They actually split the scene in 100 small scenes and then render that, they don't select crop/region rendering in max as I understood it.

Yes, I get that; but if the include/exclude list is used to specify objects for the render mask, I can't imagine any reason why it wouldn't work; after all it's just like rendering a normal image. Anyways, I guess it's their problem.
Oh I think actually I did not read the thread properly - I am talking about the texture render mask feature only, and I don't know about the other ones regarding rebus - sorry for any confusion caused.
