  • Vray Log Window

is it possible to add a system time stamp at the beginning of each line in the vray log window?

  • #2
    And a severity level too...

[2016/01/08-23:12:04.43][warning] Object BigModel has overlapping triangles.

This would help to search and sort the logs, and to highlight issues when tailing the log file.

I'm not sure what you mean - the log file (vraylog.txt) already includes time stamps and message levels.

      Vlado

The date is there pretty nicely (though I prefer numeric for sorting purposes). It would be helpful for grepping and other text parsing tools to have the severity on every line. I would use traditional severity levels from syslog.

This is at a "small annoying things" level of importance, though.

V-Ray will print "warning:" or "error:" in front of the respective messages - that should be enough for you to do what you need. If neither "warning:" nor "error:" is present, you can assume the message is an informational message.

          Best regards,

We discussed this internally a while ago, but eventually decided against it - we didn't want to add too much visual clutter to the messages window itself. The .txt file contains more detailed information for anyone interested.

The log window gives great feedback on whats going on with render nodes and about error. Now there is no option to open it and it is grayed out in the settings..
                Why?

You can open it from Rendering > Render messages window.

There is no way to run it like before?

Not in that build. But based on user feedback, we will probably revert to the old window for the next patch.
