  • vraypointparticle and pflow?

seems you cannot use the pointparticle shader with pflow? this is a very odd state of affairs if so?

nobody? surely there must be a way to use the vray particle shader on standard max particles?

As far as i know you either export them as vraymesh or alembic: you are forced to use that shader within a vrayproxy anyway and render them as points.
I guess you can't do that with native pflow.

kagemaru is right; we can't render ParticleFlow as actual point particles right now (although it may be a good feature request, if anyone's interested). For the moment, exporting to Alembic is the only way.

argh, exporting is one thing i was trying to avoid. ive got millions of particles in a nice light max scene to send to my client. an alembic would require shipping a hard drive to another country. . id say its an excellent feature request.. not being able to use the particle shader on standard max particles is quite a limitation. maybe a vray "point shape" operator? while you are at it, maybe also a vray proxy cache operator, so i can export directly from pflow to vrayproxy, and ideally, also load the proxy back into pflow as a particle source!

having said that, pflow has to die soon. its an antique, and needs putting to bed. . im fully expecting its replacement in max 2017 and it will be awesome .. and definitely not have less features than what it replaces :P

Ok, will make a note to look into it, but it might take a while.
