    Couldn't you just assign a material with 0% opacity to the clipper?

      yes i suppose i could, but i was hoping that disabling capping might speed the damn thing up.. adding transparency into the mix might slow it down even more.. (having said that, ive been told that the clipper uses transparency internally so it might not make any difference.

        If you have a scene that is slow, we can always take a look at it. Even if there is nothing that can be done at the moment, we might be able to do stuff for future builds.

          you guys already looked at that scene.. it was the transparency levels that were slowing it down (with distance tex at least.. turning the transparency levels down to 5 made it render fast, but obviously was unusable. ) it was even slower with clipper and i was told that it uses transparency internally too, so would be affected in a similar way.
