  • Vray 3.3 slower than previous version

Has anyone experienced rendering times being slower than previous version or is it just me?

Not generally. With the same settings, it usually renders either at the same speed or faster. If you have a specific scene where it is slower, I'd like to take a look at it.

    Best regards,

      Hello,

Not here - to us, VRay is faster than ever on both: setup time and render time.

Not here. For us 3.3 is faster. Not to mention the time saved not having to fiddle with every single subdiv parameter in materials/lights. Maybe you've got a very specific case where it might exhibit stranger behaviour but for us everything so far is faster and prettier.

I'll have to run a test to confirm.

Hey Vincent, just have Vlado look at your scene. 3.3 is definitely overall faster and faster to set up. It takes me only minutes after lighting and I don't have to fiddle no more with subdivs, I have stopped worrying about that since 3.3 came out.

I have a scene that's about four times slower on 3.3 - it seems to be due to using a Material Wrapper with the option for "shadows" ticked. I have versions from before and after the upgrade I can send that show the problem. I'm guessing it's related to sampling changes?

Should I open a support ticket, or PM someone here?

Please, send it to me at vlado@chaosgroup.com - it's definitely something that we want to fix.

                Best regards,

Great! I just sent an email with links to the before and after 3.3 conversion.

Checking in to see if there's been progress on this - does the new release (3.3.05) address this?
