  • IR and Brute Force will not render beyond frame 1

I can't figure out why my IR pass will not render beyond the first frame. I have 6 stills to render so typically I set up a camera that animates to 6 different view points. I have always done this with 2.5. Now that I am using 3.3, I cannot get the camera to animate. it works fine in the viewport and I'm using a vray physical camera, it just will not render beyond the first frame. In 2.5, I set the time output to "Active time segment" then set up my IR pass (Add to current map and LC (camera path) and save the maps. The LC pass will render the entire camera path just fine but for some reason, the IR pass only renders the first frame. It also does the same with Brute Force.

What is the magic button I am missing?

    Thanks.......Scott

is the "use camera path" option checked in the irmap?

I am not sure, without a sample scene its hard to say what it might be.

Ok....this is driving me crazy. I checked the IR pass button (Render camera path) and that seemed to work, however, for the life of me, I cannot get the camera to render an animation. For some odd reason, it only renders the active viewport and not the frames. This is only happening now since I switch over to 3.3......It's enough to make go off to the corner and open up an major artery.

How do you upload a max scene? It must be different than image files because I get an error message "invalid file type"

          Thanks......Scott

            Max Scene

Ok.......I zipped up the file and it uploaded. This is a Max 2015 file. Hit render and let me know if it renders beyond the frame 1.

            Thanks......Scott

I might suggest to reset your 3ds max user settings, something might have gotten corrupted.

Rendered all the frames for me too, but I'm on a nightly build, I have to try the stable one.

                  Best regards,

What user settings would I reset? Also, I reset the rendering engine back to scan-line and that worked. Went back to Vray......did not work. another thing....when you run an animation and you do not have the frames saved, you get a warning message "no frames saved". I'm not getting that message as well. I'm really at a loss and I have animation projects coming up and I can not do them.

                      If you go to:

                      C:\Users\<userName>\AppData\Local\Autodesk\3dsMax\ 2015 - 64bit\ENU

                      and delete 3dsmax.ini

see if this helps. Additionally if it does not, reinstalling vray might help.

Ok....found some new information. If you where scratching your heads before.... take a look at my screen shot. Try to wrap your head around this one. Activate the render using the Vray VFB icons...no go. Use the render button in the dialog...it works. It also works using the Max VFB.

                        Scott.

The VFB icon only renders one image; it does not render animations on purpose. It is the same as the "iterative render" button in 3ds Max.

                          Best regards,
                          Vlado

Thanks Vlado, I did not know this . I'm just a simpleton but I would think all icons related to rendering would be guided by the output settings in the render dialog.

Thanks again for clearing this up........Scott.
