Hi,
I'm currently preparing a high-end carpaint material and I want to achieve something like that:
https://www.behance.net/gallery/3041...Avant-Carpaint
Now that guy made them in VRay for Cinema4D.
I do not have too much experience in creating CarPaint shaders.
Couple questions:
1) For the experienced Automobile guys: Does the flakes behaviour and light distribution behaviour you can see in these images look more like post work or actual 3D? DO people generally really take the different layers in post and adjust them much? Can one even tell?
2) Does the VRayCarPaintMtl in 3ds max have any differences (BRDF etc) compared to the VRay for Cinema4D one?
3) Do you guys even use the VRayCarpaintMtl at all or do you put together your own blendMtl? Remember I am talking High-End here, suitable for closeups.
I tried several different approaches but I don't know if I am on the right track. I tried the VrayCarpaintMtl, a selfmade blendMtl with the flakesMtl, then a completely selfmade blendMtl with a custom Flakes Normalmap etc...
Furthermore do you know any good resources breaking down Carpaint in general or even specific for VRay for 3ds max?
