The current implementation of the light select does not include indirect contributions of lights (reflections, GI, refractions etc). While there are tricks to get reflections and refractions, there is nothing for GI.

Ok, so the implication above in the thread that somehow using Lightselect together PDplayer to get this functionality is incorrect then.
I'm fine with doing the compositing externally (PSD manager would probably pick this up quickly) until your new VFB is ready in a year, but when you say you are hoping to get it into 3.6 or 4, does that imply that there will be a 3.6 no matter what, or that you may go straight to calling the next update after 3.5 4 instead? Just trying to get an idea of the time scope.
When I think about it, my main reason for using RT is really to balance lights so this could certainly be significant.Last edited by Nicinus; 10-09-2016, 12:13 PM.

we are doing a lot of 3D mapping on buildings so having "selected" render elements denoised and specifically a proper light select would be a must.
the possibility to tweak the pace of On and Off lights in sync with the soundtrack in post, without rerendering would save a lot of render time. Right now we are doing light passes "manually" and it takes very long to render...
the option to push back to the scene the tweaks done in vfb is not essential but would be a very welcome addition.
Thx Vray!

Some videos/links of how other renderers trying or doing their ver. of light mixer. Hopefully provide some food for thoughts for devs and UI designers to cook up how in the near future V-Ray light mixer could be during interactive rendering or in post via the new VFB.
The 3Delight one in Katana is pretty cool I think.
