What kind of PSU do you guys have to run so many power-hungry cards in one box. I have one Titan X in my workstation and I think I've used up all the remaining power cables.
Do you have liquid cooling? It must get pretty hot in there.

Nice! that's an $800 card right? have you thought about getting a Titan X. The Titans series are the only graphics cards that AutoDesk Certified with the same level of qualification as the Quadros. You can probably get a Titan X Maxwell that performs almost identical with more vram for the same for that price or less on eBay.

Edit: Autodesk classifies the Titans as Professional Graphics Cards. So AD cant bitch about using a "consumer graphic card" when u hit them up with a support ticket.

The card was $800. I really don't think it matters much, for my workflow, to really get serious until I can get a couple 24GB cards for a good price. All the optimizing for GPU is giving me flashbacks to optimizing for CPU. My longest Render times for interior or exterior are around 2 hours, so I'm good with CPU renderings. I had do dig for power, for my 1080, but it was laying under other things. I thought I was screwed and I was going to remove the 980ti, but after digging, I found power. I think that I'm maxed out on everything, so I better be content for a couple years. I have invested $10 grand this year, so far.

There's nothing wrong with adding another, GPU specific PSU anyway, right? If it's not plugged into a motherboard you can just jumper it.

I was mainly referring to Max in general I remember you were having some Viewport issues. It's been a while since I submitted an Autodesk ticket but I remember they were quick to ask "are you using certified hardware" and stuff, maybe that's not the case anymore.

I've been buying up used titan x maxwells for the same price as 1080's. More ram and just as fast for the same dosh.

If you have a machine or GPU with less ram than the one with most ram, I would sell it or not use it for rendering only for view port.

titan x needs 250 W at full power, see the specs here, they recommend system power to be 600w because everything else needs power , my 1080 uses 180w but less actually, thats at full power and idk who uses it at full power, all these new ones are pascal cards also, so they are better at power comsumption, i see users who do heavy gaming posting card usage at less and 200 w for the titan x so i guess full power is under over clocking conditions
