cheaper than beefing up cpu power, in a year or two its gonna get even better, imagine you have a big job and its taking awhile to render, just run to the store, buy another card you have double the speed, triple or whatever, am definitely loving this about gpu rendering

Agreed! In about a year, I might be due for an upgrade, so a large case with lots of GPU slots, might be the solution.

No power slot left in my box either, which means I can only use one Titan even though I have 1200W.

It will be a while before we get there.. I've been waiting for that day for about 4 years now. I remember buying (4) of the original Titans when they came out and ran them in one machine with a 1600 watt PSU. They been sold on eBay...now I run dual xoens but still have some use for GPU rendering.

what's the issue your having really? right now many people are just doing gpu rendering and on massive projects, its already there, gpus are really powerful and scalable, i have used just a 1080 to fully render a 50 mill poly scene already so i imagine 3 more would really put me there, imagine 10 more, uff, try that with cpu

Many of the shaders and effects I use are not supported in GPU yet. Polys are not the issue, it's textures! they can fill the vram quick and take forever to load. last time I did some comparisons a single Titan was about as fast as an 8-core CPU.

If the old titans are faster and less expensive, why make and market something slower and more expensive? That sound a little crooked.

What are you comparing the Titan X Maxwell too? The 1080? its not in the same class. The 1080 is a beast for gaming kills the Titan X Maxwell in that aspect but for raw cuda performance it's on par with the a Titan X Maxwell.

                          • Mable we can put these cards to the test. I have Archinteriors vol. 40 and can test a 1080 Founders Edition, Titan X Maxwell SC and a Titan X Pascal.

If anyone would like to see a comparison of these cards suggest a scene from Archinteriors vol. 40 and I'll try to run some test over the weekend.
