  • Probabilistic lights - More Detailed Explanation

    Hello,

i was reading more details about probabilistic lights in V-ray 3.0, here in the following link: https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...lobal+Switches

but we need more detailed explanation about how it works?

-when on: does it reduce the flickering in animation renders ? or does it increase the risk ?

-does the vray denoiser works with the probabilistic lights?

-should we have more than one vray light in the scene to take effect?

-does it take effect with the VRAY SUN ?

attahced is 2 images of 2 same renders; one with probabilistic lights and other without

if your scene looks exactly like the example image - ie: hundreds of very similar lights in an enclosed space, and they are giving you noise issues that are hard to clean up then use it. if your scene is not that exact setup, dont.

Yes, I would say turn it off unless you've got at least tens or hundreds of lights in your scene. It also seems to create problems with IES lights. At least it did for me some time ago, maybe it's fixed now.

For the next SP, V-Ray 3.5, the probabilistic lights will work better and hopefully there won't be any need to adjust them.

        Best regards,
