Nicely done! By the way, are we seeing color noise like in real cameras at 0:07 ?

That color noise is a sampling of subsufrace volume with non-monochromatic absorption, most likely alsurface.

So they also used SSS material on the wood chopsticks and the little block of wood beneath? I'm seeing this color noise pattern across the whole image actually, not only the food in the bowl. But maybe you're right, although it seems unnecessary and overkill to use SSS for dense wood objects.

Oh, nevermind. In this case, it's probably colored bokeh

Looks great. It makes me wonder (apart from speed optimizations) how much further Vray can improve. It must be hard to come up with improvements unless a specific paper or research is revealed that improves a particular shader or way of lighting.

            He... heheheheh.... heh.... hehehe....

There's soo much room for improvement (not just V-Ray, any renderer)... I could come up with dozens of ideas... At the moment, bottleneck is programmers and their time. There are not "that" many good rendering programmers around the world. And most of them usually work for your competition, so they are worth more than gold. And even if you have a good big bunch of them, just maintaining production render engine like V-Ray is more than enough to keep them occupied

Are you laughing at my lack of knowledge You are probably right. What else do you think could be added? I'd be very interested to know what we've got to look forward to..

Nope, I do not question your knowledge at all. It's just the statement that it's hard to come up with improvements I have a few ideas of what could be added, but they are not in any way related to what will be in new V-Ray versions. That's just up to ChaosGroup to decide. If you want some inspiration, just check out Wishlist section of the forum. 80% of it is just random noise from people suggesting "add this one checkbox for my very specific workflow" but rest of it is often quite good ideas.

Writing a renderer is a lot more that reading and implementing papers, you know

Wasn't 3.5 suppose to come out the middle of December? I think I remember reading that in a much earlier post about beta testers.

We planned the second beta to come out in December, but too many things went into the builds at the last moment. So beta 2 will be released after the holidays in the middle of January with the official release at the end of that month.

Hi Everybody and Happy New Year!

Since i have the best time of the year.. the "no one will call because everybody is on holliday" time.. i reinstall my workstation and work with 3.5 beta.

I dondt know if iam to blind, but is there a post/tread where i can find the new stuff? I am still not finding the new light features (yeah blind person detected)
I found the 3.5 beta docs but its hard to find the new stuff there
But one thing its stable as a rock.. i just installed it and it works with all production archviz projects.

Nice to hear that a second beta will come i guess i should safe for a new GPU
