  • VrayExtraTex ambient occlusion element - how do I exclude items from having AO

So I like to render out an AO element with my arc viz work in order to give myself the option of having a bit of depth and texture - but it also renders AO for the grass and trees, whoch tends to ruin them.

I don't want to create a mask in my post processing app - so I added everyign to an 'exclude' list in the material - although it hasn't excluded them.

How can vray exclude certain objects in VrayExtraTex Vray dirt shader?

Exclude should do the trick for that, you could try dragging the map into the extratex as an instance again to make sure it's updated. Other than that you could try Result Affect instead of Exclude to have the object itself not used in the dirt calculations however you'll lose it around the tree on the ground as well for instance. (Exclude vs Result Affect always gets me, I need to do a quick render test every time to get the logic of it in my head. )

I think the problem I am seeing then is that the alpha is not working for that - so the excluded items aren't producing a zero alpha.

        Hello,

You are right - the VrayExtraTex render element doesn't have its own alpha and uses the alpha of the beauty pass.

I'll add a note in our system about that problem.

        Best regards,
