  • Use irradiance in other than VrayMtl

    Hello everyone,

I will have an animation render soon and wanted to apply the method to precalculate the irradiance for all statics objects and untick the "Use irradiance map" for the moving objects.
I already used that techniques and that worked really well.

This time I'm using other shader for the characters. There is VrayALSurfaceMtl and VrayHairMtl. The option is not available for these shaders.

Is there a way to force the shaders or the models to avoid the irradiance or am I forced to do 2 renders in that case ?

Currently these shaders (VrayALSurfaceMtl and VrayHairMtl) cannot be forced to avoid the irradiance map. We have similar request to have Use irradiace map option per object, so it is in our to do list.

Unfortunately in this specific case, your options could be to use VRayMtl instead, render your animation withuot precalculation phase(Brutfore/Lightcache;Brutforce/Brutforce) or render your static and moving objects in two passes.

      Ok, that's what I thought.
After some tests I think I can switch to BF+LC with denoise to have faster results and no more complex compositing to do.

One thing that would be cool (not sure that would be possible otherwise you would have done it faster)
that would have been to give the option by object with the vray properties.
