  • Animation Rendering

    Hello,

Hey guys, i´ve a big problem here.
I have a scene with 10.000.000 faces, and i have to render a walking animation, but when i load the max scene it takes 1,2 GB of memory. Then i rendered all of the irradiances and merged on IMapViewer
and saved in one single irradiance map. When i render the first frame it
goes all right, but in the second frame it crashes in the building SD tree without memory How can i render this?

    Some information:
    Vray adv14570
    Dual Xeon 3.06 HT
3 GB of memory with 3GB/Switch
    Windows XP pro

    Thanks!!

    Hi there,

Vray usually crashes at about 3-4 million non-instanced polys.

    1. Try to instance as much objects as possible instead of making copies.
    2. Use the vray proxy for polygon heavy geometry. (see manual for details)

    cheers

Maybe try using backburner Max uses less memory in slave mode, otherwise look at breaking up the render into layers, render the base the comp the detailed parts on top. Thirdly you could probably save some memory by reducing the Max tree depth and increasing the Face/level coef. a bit if you are using 1.45 you can try the dynamic memory option also.

Use the dynamic memory option. I just used this on a 10million non instanced poly scene, and it rendered with no problems.

what rerender said is a good idea. You can also take alot of the little stuff that still has alot of faces and convert them to vrmeshes. Im doing a test of making a forest using the vrmesh and its working pretty well. Ill post an example later.

There is an updated version available if you need it. But you need to email Chaos for it. They haven't uploaded it to the site because it may change for the next public build.

                  Thanks for all replies.

I´will try to render it with the backburner and vray mesh.
I think the memory used will decrease a lot!!

is hyperthreading enabled? try disabling it and see if that works...if its enabled on our machines it hangs at the same place you mentioned.

It is located in the System rollout of the V-Ray Render Settings.
