    It just depends on the scale of your scene. That could be sharp shadows or incredibly blurry shadows.

        I didn't understand first why is 1000x1000 is so high when you didn't knew what units he use. So he use mm probably.
        Ok guys thanks, i thought I am missing some basic max knowledge.

            Hey, actually forget you guys and your "REAL WORLD UNITS"

            Just kidding I'm not positive why it's that size. I think I just drew it in the view port I was working in and rounded it off. Probably just hit an extra "Tab>1000". What is the W size for anyway. I know it must relate to Box and Sphere but it's Plane and Sphere in the VRayLight and I've always assumed it's actually a Plane for point lights too. It doesn't appear to do anything perceivable but I haven't run any tests. Maybe Vlado was planning ahead for other features like different types than Plane and Sphere.

              according the manual, the W setting is there just in case there is a box-type vray light in the future
