        Hi Guys,

Thanks for all of the help. I had some prelims done earlier on wednesday (when it was due) based on the information they provided, but as expected, they wanted changes. This comes back to what you were saying and was due to them not specifying materials and not knowing what they wanted. We really shouldnt have taken this job, this was obvious from the start as their CAD files have no door or windows marked (only holes punched in walls). I know this isnt the images section but heres a few images to show the progress. Pretty much my first large scale vray job!

Really huge thanks to J-Bug and Natty who both sent some very usefull mat files which were a great starting point.

The images are still WIP, theres a lot to do on them I know, but does anyone have any comments? The colours on the panels are the clients main concern....they actually want bolder primary colours! arrr!. I know I need to get more light into the ground floor shops etc and it needs people and vegetation. I also realise that my car paint needs work amonst other things. Any C&C is much appreciated. this is basically 3 days work (including modelling)

not bad for your first bunch of images... i think the client is right about the panel colours needing to be stronger.
At the moment the cars really detract from the main focus of the images. you'd probably be better off rendering them in more neutral colours.

Looking good. There seems to be something going on with the shading of your sky in a few of the pics. Is the sky geometry?

Now that I look at it, I bet those are mostly Natty's materials though Most of mine were slapped together in a few minutes. If you want a start with the car materials you could use EGZs scripted materials from vray.info or check out these links I've posted in previous threads...

            http://www.dtoxx.com/J_Bug/CarPile.zip

Can't find the threads right now but If I remember correct, the first is a nicer Mat but the second is more of a variety with other materials also.

              thanks guys

the sky is a HDRI environment, but i havnt really figured out how to map it properly yet (using sperical ball at the moment)

Actually i tried setting up for distributed rendering and i get an error on the other computers because im missing a couple of plugins....cant remember the exact names but one one has "blur" in the name and the other "boolean". any ideas? I think it may be looking for them because of the materials. Im only using viz4

I wanted to use egz carpaint but I was using viz4 for this job which didnt seem to like it. I had problems with a lot of materials because they were made using max6 i think.

Next job i'll be using viz 2005 which should solve all of these problems.

J_Bug that CarPaint.mat is awesome! thanks heaps for that and the rest of the help you have given.

Im doing some more updates on the job now, just changing the panels and putting some lights in on the ground floor...but I dont have any time to finish it 100%. It feels really unfinished
